WHAT IS THE AXIS SYLLABUS? The Axis Syllabus, consolidated by Frey Faust, is a compendium or encyclopedia of information relevant to the training, preparation and performance of the moving human body anatomical attributes and ways of moving that are basically safe and energy conservative. By referring to physics, anatomy and relevant scientific data from various fields, The Axis Syllabus provides comparative data on flexibility, strength, alignment, injuries and movement practices. Teachers of the Axis Syllabus use these references to inform their movement choices to explore the what where and how of efficiency and safe risk-taking, common-sense applications of principles that apply to every-life activities as well, such as, climbing, horseback riding, house-cleaning, construction work, sports, dance, running, etc. For more info see: http://axissyllabus.org/. REAson d'etre dance productions

REAson d’etre dance productions believes in inspiring people through contact dance improvisation and dance/theatre. We create, produce and program dance works on stage and in film. We explore current themes in a manner that enables people to benefit from the enlivening and thought-provoking powers of expression through movement. We tell inter-generational stories that represent the current theme in the world. We strive for a high level of community engagement through classes, jams, and all-level performance opportunities. We believe that every “body” can dance, and we work to increase the accessibility of the dance arts in Canada. Alongside producing professional work, we encourage and support the every day person in becoming artists. REAson d’etre dance productions produces the Contact Dance International Film Festival. The festival was started in 2013 and runs every two years. The festival showcases films from Canada and around the world based on contact improvisation and affiliated forms, featuring both professional dancers/filmmakers as well as emerging filmmakers.
